What is Timesheet?

A summary of time logged against projects and tasks over a period (week, month).

A timesheet aggregates time entries by team member, project, or task over a period. Used for client invoicing (agencies bill from the timesheet), payroll (in some shops), and project profitability. Modern tools generate timesheets automatically from individual time entries, so the team member never fills out a 'timesheet' as a separate task - it derives from work logged against tickets.

When to use

Avoid asking team members to fill timesheets retrospectively at week's end. They'll be wrong by 30%. Automatic tracking that derives the timesheet is far more accurate.
