Migration guide

From ClickUp to Kovarro

Most ClickUp Spaces map cleanly to Kovarro Projects, and the task hierarchy comes across via CSV / JSON import.

Imports cleanly

  • Tasks with titles, descriptions, due dates, priorities, assignees
  • Subtasks (mapped to Kovarro's parent / child relations)
  • Lists (mapped to Kovarro Projects)
  • Statuses (custom statuses recreated per project)
  • Members + email addresses

Needs manual work

  • Custom fields - need to be redefined in Kovarro's field manager; ClickUp's flexibility doesn't 1:1 map
  • Comments - text comes across but @mentions need to be re-resolved to Kovarro user IDs
  • Attachments - need to be downloaded from ClickUp and re-uploaded (we provide a helper script)
  • Time entries - CSV export from ClickUp, CSV import into Kovarro's time tracker

Doesn't migrate

  • Whiteboards and Mind Maps - not supported in Kovarro
  • ClickUp Brain prompts / outputs
  • Workflow automations - need to be rebuilt with Kovarro webhooks + recurring tasks

Step by step

The migration playbook

Roughly For a 10-person team with 1-2 active Spaces: half a day. For an agency with 20+ client Spaces and 30,000+ tasks: 2-3 days, mostly attachment re-linking.

  1. 1

    Export your ClickUp workspace

In ClickUp, go to Settings → Import / Export → Export. Pick CSV (per Space) or JSON (full workspace). For larger workspaces, do it per Space - JSON exports of 10,000+ tasks can time out.

  2. 2

Map ClickUp Spaces to Kovarro Projects

Decide before importing. A small Space (one team, one workflow) becomes one Kovarro Project. A large Space with multiple Folders usually splits into one Project per Folder.

  3. 3

Create the target projects in Kovarro

In Kovarro, create each target project with the right custom statuses up front. The importer matches by status name - it's much faster than fixing 200 tasks afterwards.

  4. 4

    Run the importer

Settings → Import → Upload CSV / JSON. Pick the target project, map columns to fields, preview the first 10 rows, then run. Typical import: 60 seconds per 1000 tasks.

  5. 5

    Re-link attachments + rebuild automations

Download ClickUp attachments separately and bulk-upload to the matching tasks via the attachment helper. Recreate any automation logic using Kovarro recurring tasks + webhooks.

  6. 6

    Cut-over day

Pick a low-traffic day. Re-run the importer for the previous 24 hours so nothing's lost. Add the Kovarro link to every channel and lock ClickUp to read-only.
